| Process Of Guilt - Renounce - 2006 | Major Label Industries 10/10
Again a tremendous release, and again from Portugal! Powerful, bright, atmospheric debut work of melodic death/doom quartet Process Of Guilt clings from the first listening and, moreover, surprises! Surprises with an excellent sound, precise instrumental parties, an ideal vocal and something else owing to what it’s improbably easy to listen to and it’s desirable to listen. Swallow The Sun, Morgion, Mourning Beloveth, Mar De Grises… Process Of Guilt is a band of the same level, but in times less known.
I would mention some elements that make Renounce what it is. Firstly, it’s melodies in brightness and infectivity similar to works of Swallow The Sun and Katatonia’s first releases. Then it is powerful growling and atmospheric low clear vocal. And, at last, a guitar layer: a viscous sound wall, ambient effect and "sucking in" atmosphere. Most brightly all these elements are used in 13-minute track "Becoming Light": here are the best melodies, a variety of voices, death metal parts, and sensual “meditation” in the middle of song. I would not deliberating exchange these thirteen minutes for whole Mar De Grises’ album, for example.
If melodic death/doom a-la Swallow The Sun plus Morgion is what you like, at the first opportunity listen to Process Of Guilt and advise it to your friends - this CD will make a very strong impression for sure.
