| Ayreon - The Human Equation - 2004 | InsideOut 10/10
If I could give this album a mark of 1000 out of 1000, I would. Marvellous, charming, divine… and these are not the only good words that I can say about this CD, which is a great example of progressive, that doesn't make you tired of it's music complication, where thought can easily go through with the melody. The Human Equation, just as the previous albums of Arjen Lucassen and the company (all of them are real music stars) has it's own plot. However, this time it's not a fantasy plot, but a real situation that can happen to each of us, and that often happens.
Texts of all songs are written by roles and the "actors" are: James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth), Eric Clayton (Saviour Machine), Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad), Heather Findlay (Mostly Autumn), Marcela Bovio (Elfonia), Magnus Ekwall (The Quill), Devon Graves (Deadsoul Tribe), Mike Baker (Shadow Gallery), Irene Jansen (Karma) and Arjen Lucassen himself.
The story is about a man who re-analyses his life with the help of his own feelings: Fear, Reason, Rage, Pride, Agony, Passion and Love. It's about how important it is to remember once again the brightest moments of life and not to forget about the people you really love and need. As to the music, live instruments have been used during the recording and because of that, while listening to this CD, one can get an impression that there is a whole orchestra playing. And what is very important and rare is that you can hear each feeling and emotion reflected with sounds. But it is always better to listen to it once and feel it all with your own soul, rather than to read about it for hundred times.
