| Condemned Cell - Shadows of the past - 2004 | - 7/10
Condemned Cell—dark Moscow duet—characterize their music as Dark/Doom. Although, the band does not hesitate when it comes to borrowing elements from other styles such as black and heavy, the definition mentioned above justifies itself completely. I must mention that they sound more dark, than doom. 7 pieces comprise the album of total 53 minutes. The shortest song is just slightly longer than 5 minutes. What you are going to get from this album is an abundance of acoustic guitar pieces, ceaseless keys, continuous guitar solos, 3 types of vocals (different types of male vocal) and uniform electronic drums. Obvious disadvantages are clean vocals and drum-machine. There are no other comments about other parts of this work, however, to my mind, guitar sound could have been more dense and lofty, but tastes differ… Final Verdict: this work is highly recommended to people keen on melodic and suicidal music; as to the others—it is up to them to decide.
