20.04.2006 : "Cause For Efect" - Finnish fusion grincore duo
The first thing, which poped up in my head, when I gave a spin to some mp3s of this band was "Wow! This is really something unusual!” So I decided to interview these amazing finnish guys.
Hello Tuomo! How's it going?
-Thanks! Fine! Today (7th September) we'll go to short Germany tour, our 4th time in Middle Europe.
First of all I'd like to tell you that I got very surprised after I've listened to your songs. That's just increadible that you guys are just a couple so to speak, just two instruments, bass and drums, and what a damn meaty sound! Could you tell me,please, why did you stop just on these two instruments. Some details about the band are also appreciated.
-We have played as a duo since 1999, before that we had a guitarplayer but he had to stop, so we decided to continue only with bass and drums since we thought it would be cool. At first it sounded a frightening decision but later we realized that it was very wise move. We have played together since 1992 and during these years our style has changed a lot. We have released 2 CD's, 2 MCD's, a bunch of split releases, 4 European tours and about 100 gigs so far.
What was the general idea behind the creativity of the band?
-To express ourselves through the music.
Why did you call your band "Cause For Efect"?
- It's a cool name, it's neutral, doesn't limit you musically nor lyrically and it looks cool.
What did you pursue founding the band then?
- To achieve something and playing music together with cool people. Both social and musical thing.
I forgot to ask what's your band's style?
- Fusion grindcore.
What inspires you to write music and lyrics in particular?
- Things what I see, hear and my personal thoughts.
And how do you guys write your stuff?
- We go to the rehearsal room, jamming together and start to put riffs together, add breaks and agree with rhythms. Usually it takes about an hour, and it sees right away is it worth to compose or not.
When do we have to expect your new album?
- It already came out a month ago, new MCD it consists 18 new tracks. Called Professional 300.
Do you perform live with session musicians or... ?
- Nope, we play on stage as duo.
