06.11.2007 : Interview with Sonic Syndicate (November 2007)
Sonic Syndicate

Just a few days after the last tour the questions were sent to the Bass of Sonic Syndicate, Karin Axelsson, and here is our short but valuable interview now.
First question – so, how are you after the big tour? What are impressions? Did something interesting happen?

Just got home yesterday and it feels good to be back home to meet our families, boyfriend and girlfriends again.

The tour has been great, we shared bus with Dark Tranquillity and we really got along good with those guys. Also with Soilwork and Caliban of course.

I think we got new impressions every day since there was so many countries that we've never been to and of course you get better as a musician playing live every day.

What was unusual for you in the tour? What did surprise you?

Hm..hard to say since this is our first really big tour. But I'm a little bit surprised by the fact that we didn't even had one fight with each other or got tired of living that close in a bus. But we had fun, it was all good.

What are your nearest plans for now? Rest and celebrate Christmas?

In two weeks, a little less actually (on the 17th nov) we're going to do a US tour with Amon Amarth and Himsa. Then we will be back a day or two before Christmas. After that we have a short Christmas tour with caliban fromt he 25th ..o 30th dec in Germany.

And finally in January we will be able to have some time off hehe.

By the way, what is your favorite holiday?

Hm...that's actually a hard question. As a child it was Christmas of course because you get all the presents and stuff. But right now I think the Swedish midsummer is one of the greatest holidays.

Every band that has several albums is asked about evolution, changes and so on. Do you like to analyze yourself? Or such questions are difficult?

I don't really analyze our changes that much as I analyze what we're doing in the present now. But I do think that we have changed from first record to what we are today.

Many people are surprised with the fact that there’re 3 brothers in your band. Comment it once more please :) isn’t it difficult or may be on the contrary, is it easier to work in such team?

The whole band actually feels like a big family, we are all each others best friends and all like brothers (and sister) and I think that's a really good thing.

You are successful band. Is it more difficult now to choose what to do further? Success means more responsibility, doesn’t it?

Of course and since you're always (or most often) in the spotlight somehow you have to think about what you're doing. And now when things are going the way we planned we also have to really plan our stuff well.

Do commercial ideas and demands of label and management influence a lot on band’s life, music and lyrics?

I think that it might be so, but for us it hasn't at all. The music you hear on our record is the music we like ourselves. No one has told us what we should sound like, and the way we dress is the way we are. What we do we take responsibility for.

Why did you make the cover-version of t.A.T.u. song?

We simply needed to make a cover song for the album and we felt that we could make that song in a sonic-way kind of.

Can you remember any funny cases from concerts or studio work?

Hehe well, our producer Jonas Kjellgren is himself a really funny and nice person. So our studio time was great =). as for funny on concerts, well there's almost always something. Like a person jumping up on stage or one of us getting hurt of fall which usually is funny to watch - for us haha

Do you know any Russian bands?

Well, I know TATU since we made a cover of one of their songs =) Except for that I actually don't know hehe, sorry.
