22.11.2007 : Sinamore, Primal Fear and U.D.O
Finnish band made a good start of the concert and demonstrated melodic metal-gothic-rock in the spirit of a new progressive metal wave. I found their songs sounding interesting – various rhythm changes and nice clean vocals – SINAMORE did excellent warm up. You’d better check this band to discover different fresh metal sound.

The second band from Germany PRIMAL FEAR did not impress as much as the first one, honestly. The band is playing old style thrash metal and, perhaps, fits perfectly in U.D.O warming line-up context, but something was missed. These ninety minutes sounded pretty monotonically.

U.D.O

The show began with the entertaining classical American-style advertising Intro. When drapery felt, shiny cool looking drumset with metallic frame all across appeared on the stage. “The very beginning looks impressive and unique, it seems like the real show is going to start”, – I thought, since it was my first time ever I had come to see U.D.O. After drummer, guitar and bass players showed up, Mr. U.D.O came out himself singing with his own unique voice manner the first song “Mastercutor” from the latest album. His typical outfit – khaki clothes, finger-free black leather gloves and the metallic cross - reminded good old times of heavy metal in 80’s.
This guy might kick ass even though he doesn’t seem to be one of the tallest metal vocalists, ha-ha. The song “They Want War”, which I particularly liked at once, made public significantly hotter and whole crowd bursted out with singing. Indeed, the fact that U.D.O in his age still attracts the public, tells a lot about professionalism and many years experience in heavy metal. But that’s not all. The devotion to old good heavy metal stream, truly giving all the heart to the music, the willing to socialize with the audience, all this makes you easily involved into head-banging action. In fact, it makes you feel like you are also the part of the show, rather than just a formal standing and listening to the concert, and this is what is missed a lot nowadays with many many new bands. During the songs “Heart of Gold” and “Princess of the Dawn” the crowd turned into a real chorus singing melodies and lyrics for few minutes, as it usually happens on U.D.O concerts. Real metal drive! Fuck, these guys are really true masters of what they are doing. Each song sounded like a familiar hit despite the fact that I was not familiar with a band before. The only famous song I knew was “Metal Heart”, of course! – true metal song for all the ages! Really worthy song to end the main track-list, but not the concert! “Holy” and “Balls to the Wall” bis-songs kept on the drive. The very last song was chosen by the audience. “Which song do you want?” – U.D.O asked. – “Burning?..” – screams in response – “Rebel?.. Faceless World?..” – The crowd choice was “Faceless world”. Amazing end of the concert.
To conclude, the band sounds very fresh. Song by song, I was getting more and more into the music. The time had passed fast and the overall impression of the show overcame all of my expectations. This is what the real metal show is, no matter if the music is old! The spirit is always alive!
