21.10.2004 : PetroGrind Fest #1 (Press-Release)
Announcement of this show you can read here
DEAD INFECTION
Dead Infection- is a legendary Polish band that has led out goregrind, whose forefathers are considered to be the British Carcass, on a completely new level of quality. The band was formed at the beginning of 1990s…Within a year with only a slight change in their line-up, they managed to prepare material sufficient for the a demo-tape that was release in 1991. During the next year, they recorded and released another one and also participated actively in concerts around their native country. The end of that year was marked with a concert abroad—St. Petersburg (Russia). Already in 1993, German Morbid Records released their first full-length "Surgical Disembowelment". The next release "A Chapter of Accidents" was produced by the year 1996, and with it the Polish gained the status of a cult band. In 1999, the band ceased to exist, but it was resurrected in 2002. And so, 12 years later, the most brutal Polish band is coming back to St. Petersburg!
Attending their show is a must for every single grind-lover, since the guys do have stuff to show. Dead Infection does not have a bass guitar but the only guitarist, Tocha, can produce such a sound that not every band with two guitarists and a bassist can reproduce that!
The drummer and leader of the band Cyjan, can give odds to any drum-machine, and the singer Jaro has a simply stentorian voice. It can seem that he growls all the time in anguish and that he is about to lose his voice, but it only seems so! In fact, he can easily growl throughout the whole performance.
Within the framework of the Petrogrind festival the band is going to play songs that have long ago achieved the title “classics” as well as the material from their new album "Brain Corrosion". It will probably be possible to obtain the album during the festival.

INFERIA
One of the pioneering bands in the sphere of Finnish brutal death metal. Unfortunately, they are not widely known abroad due to the unsuccessful contract with Fireline Records, that is the label just cheated the band.
Inferia exists officially starting from 1991. During the first couple of years, the band recorded two demos, and in 1993 German Invasion Records released their first mini-CD entitled "Spawned At The Dawn". The release was followed by a minor tour around Poland and by the release of a full-length album "Masterpiece" by the abovementioned Fireline records. Despite complete lack of any kind of support from the label, the album managed to produce quite a number of positive opinions, and Finnish Soundi even declared it the best death/grind CD of the country.
The next album appeared in 1998 thanks to Polish label Soundland production and was written in brutal-death style common to the previous one.
Two years ago, Inferia took part in the Czech festival Obscene Extreme sharing the stage with such monsters as Agathogles, Sinister, Pungent Stench, CÂÒ and others.
This year was marked by the release of a new mini-album "Explosive Copulation", which will be offered to you during Petrogrind.

TORN
It is a relatively young band from Turku (Finland), which was formed in 2000 and that managed to show themselves well on the Finnish scene. During the summer of 2001, the guys recorded 8 ultra-brutal tracks, which were released as full-length album a year later under the title of "Violent Ecstasy". The reviews characterized the music as super-high speed and straight-out brutal. Perhaps it is the most wild band in Finland.
At the beginning of this year the founder and leader of the band Jani Huttunen founded a side-project Goretorture. There he was the one to play all the instruments and to sing all the parts…
Already in September, his first album, "Promised To Kill You Last... I Lied!", was released by "Pyrolagnia Records" from St. Petersburg. Perhaps some of the tracks from this album are going to be performed.
Musically, both bands are rather alike due to the fact that in both of them Jani is the songwriter. This means that those of you who were lucky enough to have Goretorture will probably like Torn as well…

SLUGATHOR
In 2001, practically unknown Finnish band Deepred, which by that time had released only one album in the manner of Suffocation, managed to perform on one of the St. Petersburg’s concerts and was enthusiastically welcomed by the audience.
Unfortunately, the band ceased to exist this summer, which explains their refusal to show up on the Petrogrind festival. But this event is going to be attended by Slugathor, which actually has one of the former guitarists of Deepred-Antti Oinonen, but this time he will play bass.

SLUGATHOR were founded somewhere in 1999 and can be classified as classical brutal death in the spirit of best American bands. The band can be proud of several demo-records as well as of a full-length album that was released last year by Polish Agonia Records

MENTAL DEMISE
The veterans of the Ukrainian metal scene formed their band in May, 1995. In 1997 the first rehearsal demo was released-Utopia of Existence. The second one "Psycho-Penetration" was recorded in February 1998 and contained 9 tracks of intense brutal death/grind with psychological-conceptual lyrics. The material was released as a tape by Moon Records, and later was re-issued 4 times. Pinky, the second guitarist joined the band in March 1998 and the band participated in 25 concerts around the West Ukraine supporting "Psycho-Penetration".
In spring 2000, Mental Demise enters Vaginal Suckers studio in order to record their new promo-material (3 tracks)-"Credo Quia Absurdum..?". During this recording session bass guitar player leaves the band, but fortunately he was soon successfully replaced by S. Vitkovsky...
In 2001 D.A.C. Productions released "Credo Quia Absurdum..?" as a split-CD with Entrails Putrefaction, later a mini-tour with Polish death metal heroes Hate took place around Byelorussia (November, 2001). The year 2002 was concluded by a concert with Death/Grind monsters Damnable.
In April 2003, Mental Demise took part in a Polish tour "Grind de Pologne-2", within the framework of which the band shared the stage with such brutal guys as IMPERIAL FOETICIDE, EPITOME, DECAPITATED, DEFORMED, MASTECTOMIA, PATOLOGICUM and ANAL STENCH...

DIS-ASS-TER
Coming from Ukrainian city of Donbass (Donets Basin), this band has been around since 2001…From the very beginning the band was and actually still is preoccupied with performing extreme gore/grind in the manner of Gut…They took part in about 10 concerts, have a video and are recording a demo…

ABNORMYNDEFFECT
Until recently this band was known as Butchers. These guys come from Kishinev and they have been around since 2002. Originally the band played death metal, then brutal death/grind, and now they perform fast, highly rhythmical grind. Abnormyndeffect recorded a demo-album Ineffable Trance.
After their successful appearance on Metalheads' Mission #5 in Crimea, the band changed their title to Abnormyndeffect. This is how they are going to be announced during Petrogrind.

DISENTOMB
Disentomb is another brutal formation from Moldova that has showed itself very well during the festival in Crimea this summer… Performing in hospital (surgical) gowns with bulky dressings on them, the band created a marvellous impression upon the audience. We shall hope that they are going to have a similar show in Petersburg.

SUFFERER
These brutal guys from Minsk are worth pointing out for their decent drummer and front-man’s powerful voice. Their lyrics is also worth praising, for they, written in Russian, fit perfectly the style and the theme of their music.
Sufferer also pleased the listeners with a decent quality sound on their split-album "Èñêóøåíèå ñìåðòüþ" recorded with Cruelty (2002).
Finally, the time when it seemed that musicians had been playing on pots and pans and not instruments passed… : )

PERIALNIE KANDILOMY
The birth of this band from Minsk was marked by the appearance of a song titled: "Áîëåçíü ñ çàïàõîì êëåíîâîãî ñèðîïà ìî÷è" (summer, 2001).
Some time later appeared a variation of this song—"Ñàìîèçíàñèëîâàíèå and even later "Ãèíåêîìàñòèÿ". After these three songs, the band seemed to have died.
But, after some changes in the line-up, the band started rehearsing again and on 23rd of February they recorded a rehearsal variant of the 3 above-mentioned songs.
The material was easily written and by the end of the summer they had about 10 tracks that they recorded on 18th of 2002 as the first demo-recording for Perialnûõ Kondilom, which was later called Çàëåò ÷åðåç ðîò and which contained 6 tracks.

ABNORMAL
The band was established during august 2002 in St. Petersburg. The initial line-up: Vasiliy Sheremetjev—drums; Denis Laitan—guitar/vocals and Dmitry Vysotskiy—bass.
The band existed with this line-up until November 2003, but already in December there appeared a new bass-guitar player Ivan Kirjushin, and after that the band was joined by a new guitarist Anton Veresov. Both newbies used to play in a local Petersburg band Beautiful Suicide (today’s Beaucide) Since the beginning of 2004 the band started active participating in concerts and shows and during the first part of the year they managed to take part in more than 10 concerts in their native Petersburg. At the end of July, during the recording session the line-up of Abnormal was abandoned by the second guitarist. Trio, left alone, re-recorded the material and on 3rd of September it can be spotted on the Russian ManiaXXX split that was released by Pyrolagnia Records (St. Petersburg, Russia). Within the framework of Moscow Dark Cover Party held in R-club, Abnormal started the new concert season.

At this time the guys are actively into writing new stuff, which is going to be seen on their upcoming full-length album.
Abnormal’s music is very technical and is created in the spirits of such monsters as Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Internal Bleeding and Abnormal can easily compete with them. Perhaps it is not the most brutal band in St. Petersburg, but in terms of technique/ brutality they can give odds to anyone…

MIND ECLIPSE
This band from Yaroslavl got its name in August 1999. After recording a rehearsal demo in November 1999, the band started to take part in various concerts. The band’s debut album "In The Light Of Eclipse" Coming was recorded in August 2000. During the recording, the guitarist leaves the band and the latter finished the recording without him. A bit later the band was joined by a new guitarist and already on 6th of November, Mind Eclipse performed at Moscow black metal festival Bestial Attack. At the end of December, a rock-festival was held in Yaroslavl where the drummer of the band, Battlefield, was acknowledged as the best drummer. April was marked by the promo-version of a new song We Are Not Messiahs. At the same time their first full-length album was released in Ukraine by Bloodhead Productions. The next album, Chaos Chronicles, was release in March, 2003. And to Petrogrind festival Mind Eclipse are coming with the new material, which will be included in their upcoming CD.

I CUM BLOOD
I Cum Blood is another formation from Yaroslavl that is inclined to play something relevant to grindcore. They have been around since 2001 and since then managed to participate in numerous concerts including the last Metal Heads Mission held in Yevpatoria, where they were well received by the audience.

EDUCATED SCUM
The history of Moscow Educated Scum dates back to 2000, when it existed as a studio project only. They recorded a demo of 6 songs, but Mishgun, the leader of the band, was dealing with other projects and thus the band was neglected until autumn 2003. Having accumulated the ideas, the band recorded their debut full-length album From Chaos To Disorder within 2 months.
Under the pressure of public, Educated Scum decided to release this album, although in the beginning it was meant for friends only. The most interesting deal came from Not Like Most Records...and while the preparations for the recording session took place the band turned from a studio project into a full-fledged band and thanks to this, the band will be able to participate in Petrogrind.

ANAL NOSOROG
Biography of this metropolitan band is veiled in obscurity just as the origins of such an eccentric name. The band plays pure goregrind. They are not stuck with high speed only, but add different cool features to their music. So you can easily count them as one of the decent representatives of Petrogrind.

CRYPTIC VOMIT
The band leads its chronology from June, 2000 when they appeared under the title Cryptic, when the formation was meant to be a studio project only. Thus from the very beginning the problems of finding a decent drummer were happily solved by using a drum-machine. Their first demo Sickness can be characterized as noisegoregrind with terrible sound and schizophrenically savage material. This demo was not widely distributed and has a rather historical significance for the band. However, already in 2002 the band became known with their release of goregrind Bdelygmia.
Somewhere in the middle of 2003 Degradation Music becomes the official distributor of the CD. Due to the existence of a German band with the same name, the band in question changes its name to Cryptic Vomit. Towards the end of 2003, they recorded new material titled XXXL Gore Ballads in their own studio, Goregutted Rec. This particular material showed a slight tendency towards gorecore and the wish to experiment, but within the limits of goregrind. Chaos, the second guitarist joins the band in May 2004 and they start rehearsing with him the new material. 3rd of September was marked by the release of a 4-way split CD Russian ManiaXXX with Abnormal, Haemorr Drench and Morrah. It was released by Pyrolagnia Records. After such a remarkable history of development, it seemed natural to invite them to Petrogrind Fest #1. The presentation of their new full-length CD-Pathomiosis is going to take place on 16th of November, within the framework of the festival.

ABORTED FETUS
The band originates from Perm and was formed during summer 2000. Having changed their title several times, the band recorded a demo-tape "World Of Bleeding". A bit later they created another demo-Intestinal Crisis. All the material was in the spirits of brutal death metal. During the whole 2002 Aborted Fetus have been strenuously rehearsing and despite constant line-up changes they have recorded their third release "Murder & Rape Your Flesh". It has appeared this year as a split-album with M.D.K. and Necropsy...

SORDID CLOT
The initial “festering of the clot” started in Bryansk, in October 1999. Over the course of almost two years, the clot in question has been heartily introducing mid-tempo brutal death with some parts of grindcore in it. The theme of the songs was of course devoted to necro-gut evisceration with all sorts of perversions. The first performance of the band took place on 16.09.2000 at "Grand Freak Show – 10". The next year, 2001, saw a great split in the band, thus the vocalist and the drummer left. Despite that the band continued as a duet. After unavailing efforts to find people and after an almost 8-month stagnation, the drummer returns to the band. And a bit later new blood comes: vocalists Vitaliy and Eugene. Sordid Clot radically changed their style from brutal death to grindcore coupled with noisecore elements. From then on the lyrics was written in Russian only. With this line-up the band performed in Bryansk, Orel and Moscow…And now it is time for the Northern Capital…
