29.07.2006: Municipal Waste tour update
Municipal Waste
MUNICIPAL WASTE have been unleashing the bastard in audiences throughout the US over the last few weeks. Playing a variety of venues, from intimate VFW shows to a guest slot on the Maryland leg of the Sounds of the Underground tour, MUNICIPAL WASTE have reached out to fans and delivered their passion for a good 'ol time to the masses.

Lead singer Tony Guardrail checked in while on tour and proclaimed that MUNICIPAL WASTE'S slot on The Sounds of the Underground tour "was awesome" and notes that each show they have played on their summer tour has been an amazing experience. Shows have included boogie boards thrown out for crowd "surfing", trampolines, and all sorts of random novelties that have established MUNICIPAL WASTE as a live force to be reckoned with.

MUNICIPAL WASTE are gearing up for a six day stint in California to round out their summer US tour and will embark on a six day tour of Australia!

MUNICIPAL WASTE are excited to bring the waste to and are geared to ravish Australian audiences with their beer driven melodies. Check www.earache.com for MUNICIPAL WASTE up-to-date tour information and come out and face the waste!

Decapitated
Effortlessly redefining extremity in music, Decapitated have consistently achieved damn close to death metal perfection since their groundbreaking debut 'Winds Of Creation' in 2000. This year's earth shattering 'Organic Hallucinosis' saw them rightfully reassert their position as Death Metal standard bearers and the mammoth touring schedule they undertook in support of it saw them honed into a fearsome live proposition. You can get some idea of why these young Poles are so revered by clicking on this link and checking out the brand new video for one of the stand out tracks from 'Organic Hallucinosis' - 'Day 69'.

With brand new video ‘Homage For Satan’, a vitriolic anti-christian anthem directed by Detroit based Scrambled Visual, about to be unleashed on the masses, Deicide are sure to once again find themselves under the microscope of some of the so-called protectors of society as Deicide frontman Glen Benton stares the camera down with his trademark inverted crucifix branded defiantly onto his forehead, spitting bile both literally and lyrically. 25.07.2006: Tour Diabolical hits Russia
Satyricon
At the tail end of Tour Diabolical which has already been announced, we will pay a visit to Russia for the first time. Dates are here. We won't be bringing any opening bands over to Russia as it is a fly-in. We very much look forward to this tour as it is our first in Europe since 2003. The festivals this summer have been amazing and have really left us lusting for more. The new material undoubtedly goes down extremely well live we've experienced, and for this tour we also plan to bring forth some old songs that we have never played live before.

Pre-sales are up and running all over the place. Visit the website of your local venue for details on how to buy tickets.

In other news, Thomas Schatz from Germany has won the competition to win a signed Ibanez guitar. Congratulations!

20.07.2006: Deicide
Deicide
Following the recent events at a Deicide gig in Texas DEICIDE's Ralph Santolla offers up his own account of the July 14 concert in Laredo, Texas.

DEICIDE's Ralph Santolla offers up his personal statement regarding the events of July 14 in Laredo, Texas . DEICIDE are currently preparing for their fall headlining tour with JUNGLE ROT and HURTLOCKER and are set to release "The Stench of Redemption" on August 22, which is being called some of their best work since Legion. Check Earache.com for latest DEICIDE news and to pre-order "The Stench of Redemption."

His account is as follows:

"We pulled up a at the hotel in Laredo around 4 o' clock in the afternoon. One of the local promoters, Liz, tells us to be downstairs at 6:30 to go to the venue. After we sit outside waiting for 45 minutes in the heat, we decided to go on our own. The first thing I see when we get there is this Liz chick sitting on her ass in their venue. I said "Hey thanks for leaving us sitting around waiting for you to pick us up". Not a great start. Things were bad from the beginning - there was no stage and tons of gear everywhere. The promoter said,'We'll set you guys up after all the other bands, right before you play.' We were like, that's not how it works, they can set up in front of us. Thats pretty normal. It took these people an hour to figure out how to move 1/2 a drum set out of our way. A bad start. We asked for 2 hours for our rider, but this Liz girl wasn't capable of giving straight answers to anything and was a lot more concerned with her local band buddies concerns than putting on a show. We should never have been booked there in the first place. Right before we go on stage, they tell us their not paying us what they agreed top in the contract. A lot of promoters who aren't experienced don't seem to understand a guarantee means just that, a guarantee. If they risk their cash to put on a show, and then they don't promote or whatever, no matter who's fault it is, they take the hit - not the bands. They never complain when they make a lot of extra cash, but they squeal like a stuck pig when they don't. This is our career and we were ripped off - you can't go into Wal Mart and just take whatever you want without paying.

We go on stage and the power starts cutting out instantly. They didn't provide a venue, enough power, a stage, the money, or a working PA. We had to stop every 30 seconds and finally somebody says they're making us stop, so we go off stage. I went upstairs on the balcony top find my cigarettes. I'm standing there talking to the guys from Ringworm, and I turned around and a police officer pepper sprays me and throws me on the ground. They didn't say "Stop, get on the ground," nothing - just ran up to me and sprayed me. They threw me down, and I said "Why am I being arrested" and one of them says, " you threw a beer bottle at me." I replied, "ME??", and one of the other cops starts yelling " SHUT THE FU*K UP, SHUT THE FU*K UP, I SAW YOU I SAW YOU." Then one of them puts his knee into my neck and puts all of his weight on it and starts grinding my face into the ground. Now, the thing is, this whole time, I'm just laying there being still. I can't see, I can't breathe - nothing. So it's not like I was struggling or resisting. If you've never been pepper sprayed, it fu*king hurts. Now my hand is all fu*ked up and i've got a loose tooth. Jack Owen told me the next day that he saw somebody in the crowd throw a beer up in the air. It bounced off off something and hit the ground near the cop and then all the cops went running up the stairs. That's it. I've done a lot of stupid things, but throwing bottles at cops isn't one of them."

13.07.2006: SUMMON CONCERT SPARKS BRAWL BETWEEN BAND MEMBERS
Cult group remains intact, now actively seeking singer/guitarist. Following a devastatingly killer performance in front of a packed audience at Detroit’s Club 2500, members of Michigan’s Satanic Beer Metal Cult SUMMON lived up to their decidedly intense reputation as a fight broke out between bassist Necromodeus and frontman Xaphan. The bloody brawl which ensued left Xaphan “permanently scarred” and the popular underground outfit in search of a new singer/guitarist. Contrary to rumors stemming from a post on Xaphan’s official MySpace page, SUMMON has not disbanded and is actively seeking a replacement for the former frontman. In an official statement, band leader Necromodeus stated, “We’re not going to quit because he did…again. We’re looking for a replacement singer.”

Most recently, the popular underground group issued “Fallen” via Seattle’s MORIBUND CULT. Featuring wicked cover art from the legendary JOE PETAGNO and being the first extreme metal album to be recorded in Dolby 5.1 sound, the record scored big with critics and fans alike, garnering rave reviews in the press and attracting a rabid audience to European concerts in support of GOD DETHRONED and on various US tour jaunts.

Currently, the group is preparing material for their next album and looking toward touring in October with Century Media recording artists INCANTATION. Members of SUMMON are available for interview…For more information: Nathan@napalmrecords.com or publicity@blackenedmoon.com

07.07.2006: Napalm Death
UK’s godfathers of Grindcore have finished recording Smear Campaign, their highly anticipated follow-up to last year’s The Code Is Red…Long Live The Code. A preview on the album fresh from the can be streamed here. Look for Napalm Death’s Smear Campaign to start September 19.

Reporting on the Foel Studios recording sessions, vocalist Barney Greenway said, "We just spent a few weeks again in the studio in Wales where we recorded The Code..., which was obviously such a good experience that we decided to return. Whilst we were not trying to compete with Code... or make the same album again, it has to be said that Smear Campaign sounds twice as immense. We didn’t fuck around getting the songs together but somehow Smear Campaign seems to come across as a more in-depth experience.

“It was very cool that Anneke from The Gathering offered to sing on the album. It’s really funny, because we never would have thought about having guest vocals before the The Code... but every vocalist worked well with the song they contributed to. Anneke´s style is clearly very different to that of, for example, Jello Biafra but what she does totally enhances the experience. It sounds pretty spooky.

“Lyrics: I guess people know about the album title now but to give a brief explanation the general thread is actually a question asking why exactly we need religion to give us a basis on how to run our lives. Can we not be trusted as human beings to make our own decisions? This applies in my eyes to everything from Christianity to Paganism to Satanism. Surely the world would be more peaceful without religious restrictions and all this false morality!”

Both the writing and the recording processes have really made us a stronger band as we faced quite a few challenges along the way. We can’t wait for people to check out the new stuff, and look forward to playing it all live.” Presented with clock-stopping artwork, Travis Smith (Nevermore, Opeth) provides original artwork. Additionally MERCENARY have welcomed bass player René Pedersen, an active performer from Denmark’s Transparent, as their new bass player.
